Institutional research

In order for us to gain knowledge on the type of music video we want to produce, we tried to contact various record labels and studio's, asking them for the types of things they look for in a band, their music video and their music. We contacted record labels such as Roadrunner Records, Sony Records and Warner Music Group, as well as small independent record labels and studios such as Skipworth records and Deckcheese records. We chose a selection of independant and major record labels to gain a wide knowledge of the different styles of video, for different types of lables. Unfortunately, none of the labels replied, to the left is a screen clipping of the email we sent to the record labels we contacted.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of replies this didn't help us to get an idea of what a record label would look for in a new band, but it did give us the impression that if any of our texts were unprofessional and looked rushed, we would not be creating a realistic text. This is a consideration we have definitely taken into heavy consideration in the production, planning and evaluation of our texts. We realise that the music industry is rough, rushed and uncompromising, and to do well in this coursework, we must act as if we are in the music industry to produce a promotional package which could be seen by a real record label.
